Patia Pat in Freeport. A unique skill that any engineer can boast is dismantling items into resources useful for Blacksmiths and Weaponsmiths. These resources include particles necessary for creating and repairing armor and weapons. Additionally, Engineers can fuse particles into titanium.
Patia Pat's Recipes. To learn the Engineer profession, you need to spend 1 profession point and find the NPC Engineer mentor Patia Pat near the Master Street in Freeport.
After learning the Engineer profession from her, you will gain the Engineering skill at level 1, which allows you to access the dismantling and shard creation menu. However, before dismantling items, you must learn the appropriate dismantling recipe by consulting Patia Pat and selecting the Dismantling tab in the dialogue window.
Fusion. You can acquire recipes for creating armor shards (Titanium Shards) necessary for increasing equipment durability in the Fusion section.
At level 1, you can learn recipes for Titanium Shards α and β. At the second and third levels, gem fusion recipes become available.
In the Raw Materials section, you can purchase all necessary ingredients for creating Titanium Shards or Gems using unbound silver coins.
After learning all available recipes at your current level, you can open the Engineer work menu to see the list of items you can dismantle.
The image on the right shows level 3 Engineer dismantling recipes.
To dismantle items, you need the items themselves, but not all qualities and levels are suitable. You cannot dismantle white or purple quality items or items below level 30. A level 1 Engineer can dismantle:
Blue items of levels 30-49 and green items of levels 40-49.
A level 2 Engineer can dismantle blue and green items of levels 50-59.
At 3 Engineering level, you can dismantle blue and green items of levels 60-64.
At level 4 Engineering, blue and green items of levels 65-69 can be dismantled.
You can gather items for dismantling by completing various instances, buying them at the auction, or asking friends.
How to Dismantle an ItemArmor Dismantling Window. To dismantle your first item, open the Engineer work menu and your inventory, where you have prepared weapons or armor for dismantling. Right-clicking on it will automatically add the equipment to the dismantling window. Important: You must be able to dismantle items of the given level and quality. Then, simply press the button. If you realize during the dismantling process that the item might still be useful, immediately press the button.
Upon completion, you will see the particles you received:
For example, dismantling a level 60 blue jacket yields 2 Protection Crystals and 2 Life Crystals. Previously, dismantling level 40 green equipment yielded 1 Destruction Particle and 1 Life Particle. Thus, different equipment, depending on its level and quality, will yield various particles or crystals, with quantities varying.
Important:
Dismantling blue quality items yields Protection, Life, Magic, and Destruction Crystals.
Dismantling green quality items yields Life, Destruction, Magic, and Protection Particles, with a chance to obtain various Crystals.
Note that the chat will inform you that your Engineer profession has gained experience points, even if Particles and/or Crystals have not yet entered your inventory.
To transfer particles to your inventory, press the button.
Now the Particles/Crystals are successfully in your inventory, as indicated in the chat.
What to do with them next is entirely up to you. You can sell them at the auction, give them to blacksmiths or weaponsmiths, or use them to make Titanium Shards.
Titanium Shards and GemsTitanium Shards, Fusion. Have you worn down your favorite +9 weapon to 1/10 durability? How to use your favorite toy without constant repairs? An Engineer can help solve this pressing issue.
The Engineer is the only profession in the game that can create Titanium Shards to increase the maximum durability of weapons and armor. To create such shards, you must learn the corresponding recipe. Then, access the Engineer work menu and go to the newly available Fusion tab, where the recipe for creating these marvelous shards is available.
Destruction or Fusion. The recipe is both complex and simple.Choose the recipe you need from those learned:
Titanium Shards are suitable for items of levels 1-59.
Titanium Gems are suitable for items of levels 60-80.
Alpha (α) Gems are suitable for increasing the durability of blue quality items.
Beta (β) Gems are suitable for increasing the durability of purple quality items.
Now let's see what is needed to create a Titanium Shard.
To create a Titanium Shard α, you need to spend one unit each of Destruction, Protection, Life, and Magic Crystals, purchase Polymer α from Patia, and sacrifice 10 units of energy. After gathering all necessary materials, press the Produce button to create the shard you need.
Engineer Development Prospects
The demand for engineer products will always be high, so earning from selling shards is both possible and necessary. Some items that are worth no more than 10-20 silver coins at auction can significantly increase in value when dismantled into particles. Additionally, when crafting Titanium Shards, there is a chance to create more than one.
At levels 80+, most players will have a single well-upgraded weapon, and its durability will inevitably decrease over time. To avoid buying new weapons, shard repairs will be necessary. Therefore, engineers capable of making crystals to increase equipment durability will always be in demand.
Q: How do I unlock Engineer?
A: Engineer trainer in Hossinger or Freedom Harbor. Profession point cost like other crafting professions.
Q: Engineer + Marksman synergy?
A: Yes lore-aligned — Marksmen craft additional ammunition and special bullets via Engineer. Same race (Dwarven) commonly plays both.
