Gems
Gems are stones used to enhance equipment attributes in Forsaken World. They can be inserted into weapons, armor, or jewelry after refining the equipment to create slots.
What are Gems?
Gems are stones that can be inserted into slots in weapons, armor, or jewelry to enhance specific character attributes. Initially, equipment does not have gem slots. To insert a gem, the equipment must be refined.
After the Homecoming update, gems can also be used to enhance Wings.
- Refinement +3 opens one slot
- +6 opens two slots
- +9 opens three slots
- +12 opens four slots
Each slot can hold one gem, but only if there are no other gems of the same type in the item, even if they are of different levels. Some types of gems can only be inserted into specific types of equipment.

Additionally, almost all gems have a "Fragile" version, indicated by a cracked icon. Fragile gems differ in that they cannot be extracted from equipment and cannot be used in gem synthesis. Yarovit, Olivin, and Ametrine are exceptions.
Obtaining Gems
Level 1 gems can be obtained from:
- Chests in rifts of your level, accessed with a crystal key.
- Upon reaching level 80, Charlie gifts 8 different unbound level 1 gems (quest "Deserved Reward").
- The "Shining Box" item, purchasable in the Eyrie Gallery, obtainable in Shimmering Lowlands, from guild base daily quests, weekly arena quests, and other locations.
- Direct purchase in the Eyrie Gallery (price depends on gem type).
Bound level 1 gems can be obtained from:
- Shining Spirit Boxes (available in Shalia's Gifts, in exchange for Gilded Jasper, from level 4 prayers, and other methods).
- Exchange for another gem with NPC Kreist.
- Shimmering Lowlands expedition via the "Wheel of Fate" in the "Expedition Window" (T).
Gem Synthesis
Gems of levels 2, 3, 4, and 5 can be synthesized. The "Combine Gems" option is available with Jane Lumen in Freedom Harbor (Market Row). To create a gem of the next level, you need:
- Several gems of the same type from the previous level
- A certain amount of numia (depends on gem level)
- A "Smelter" or "Gem Synthesis Dust" of the corresponding level.
Using a smelter, the success chance depends on the number of gems used:
- 3 gems - 50%
- 4 gems - 75%
- 5 gems - 100% Without a smelter, using all 5 gems results in a 25% success chance.
In case of success, you receive a gem of the next level. If any of the original gems or the smelter was bound, the result will also be bound.
Inserting Gems
This option is also available with Jeweler Jane Lumen in the Market Row. Place an item with at least one free slot in one window and the gem in another. Inserting a gem costs a certain amount of bound currency (depending on gem level). If the gem was bound, the item will also become bound.
Extracting Gems
All gems except "fragile" ones can be extracted from equipment and reinserted an unlimited number of times. Each extraction requires an "Extractor" scroll of the corresponding level and some bound currency (numia). Scrolls can be exchanged with NPC Lawrence for guild merits and numia or purchased in the game store.
Shine
Each gem has a Shine parameter, depending only on its level:
- Level 1: 1 unit of shine
- Level 2: 2 units of shine
- Level 3: 6 units of shine
- Level 4: 10 units of shine
- Level 5: 15 units of shine
If the total shine on gems inserted into a weapon is 12 or more, the weapon will glow, depending on its type.
With sufficient total shine on armor (excluding weapons and jewelry), characters grow wings:
- 100 shine = level 1 wings
- 200 shine = level 2 wings
- 280 shine = level 3 wings
- 420 shine = level 4 wings
Wings provide various bonuses and allow flying. More details.
