Overview
Critical Hit is Forsaken World's damage-multiplier mechanic — attacks have a chance to deal critical damage (typically 200% base). Critical hit scales with class talents, gear, and class-specific procs. Understanding critical hit math is essential for endgame DPS optimization.
This article covers mechanics, progression, and tips.

Critical Hit

A critical hit is a successful attack by a character that deals significantly more damage than a regular attack. The chance of a critical hit can be viewed in the character's stats by pressing the C key. The standard critical hit chance is 8%, and players need to increase this chance on their own.
Critical Damage
Critical damage is the percentage of damage relative to the base attack that constitutes the damage from a critical hit. For example, if the critical damage is 371%, a critical hit will deal 371% of the normal skill attack.
Critical Evasion
Critical evasion is the stat that protects against critical hits. The higher your critical evasion, the lower the chance that an opponent's critical hit will be successful. There are two opinions on critical evasion:
- The stats are mutually exclusive. If the opponent's critical hit chance is equal to or less than your critical evasion, the opponent will not land a critical hit.
- The stats are not mutually exclusive. If you have 50% critical evasion, the opponent's chance to land a critical hit is halved.
Critical Defense
Critical defense reduces incoming damage from an opponent's critical hit. If your critical defense equals or exceeds the opponent's critical damage, the opponent will not deal more damage with a critical hit than with a regular attack.
Note that not all critical attack and defense stats are shown in the character's attributes. Skills or talents can increase or decrease these stats.

Evaluation and Gems
These stats cannot be increased by enhancing equipment; they need to be "boosted." Critical damage, critical hit chance, critical defense, and critical evasion can be increased through equipment evaluation.
- Critical damage can be evaluated on blue and purple equipment, fashion clothing, and accessories.
- Critical hit chance can be evaluated on purple equipment and fashion clothing.
- Critical defense is evaluated exclusively on arena and ice valley items of blue and purple quality, as well as fashion clothing.
- Critical evasion can only be evaluated on purple arena equipment and ice valley.
Gems are another way to enhance these stats.

In addition to gems and equipment evaluation, critical hit chance and critical evasion can be increased with pet skills.

Faith is another way to enhance a character's critical stats. In the passive talents of the faith tree, there are options for critical damage, critical hit chance, critical defense, and critical evasion. However, for some classes, reaching a certain amount of rune energy unlocks new skills that can increase critical hit chance, critical damage, critical defense, or critical evasion.
Among the four stats, choose those that best suit your class. For example, light priests or ice mages should focus on critical evasion or critical defense, as they are support classes. If you choose to be a damage dealer, focus on critical damage and critical hit chance. It is not feasible to maximize all four stats simultaneously. You must choose between damage and survivability, depending on what is more important to you.
FAQ
Q: Critical chance formula? A: Base + bonuses from gear + class passives + accuracy-conversion effects. Endgame typical range: 30-50% crit chance for DPS classes.
Q: Critical defense — what reduces enemy crits? A: Critical defense stat on gear reduces enemy crit chance against you. Important for tanks and PvP defenders.
Q: Critical damage scaling? A: Default crit = 200%. Talents and gear push to 250-300% damage on crit. Massive DPS swing in optimization.
