Introduction
The Old Fortress, also known as Grenville Fortress, is a group event available to all players starting from level 30. Registration is open only on Mondays from 12:00 to 23:00, either through the automatic registration system or by speaking to NPC Balberd located in Hossinger at the Apelio Palace. Players can attempt the event up to three times, with the highest reward available on the first attempt.
Team
Balberd in Apelio Palace. Before registering for the event, ensure you have potions and elixirs for HP and MP, food and drinks, repair your equipment if needed, feed your pet, and free up some inventory slots for rewards.
Your team should include a tank (preferably a Protector for their mass aggro skills), a healer, and support class. DPS classes with area attack skills like Archers, Mages, Vampires, Assassins, and Reapers are preferred.
Once prepared, register to be transported to Fort Grenville, where you'll defend against waves of aggressive monsters to earn rewards. Upon arrival, buff each other, quickly restore HP and MP if needed, and head to the monster spawn points.
Strategy
Morin in Grenville Fortress. There are several strategies for defending the fortress. Some groups split to eliminate monsters, while others stay together. Players must hold at least two positions as monsters attack from the front and ambush from behind.
A common strategy involves the tank, a priest, and a group of DPS classes moving close to the monster spawn point to prevent their advance. A warrior or vampire with a healing class (bard or vampire) stays at the fortress entrance near NPC Morin to fend off rear attacks.
On the map, colors indicate: NPC Morin (), wounded soldiers (), players (), front-attacking monsters (), and rear-attacking monsters ().
Another tactic involves splitting into two groups to cover monster paths, while others protect Morin and wounded soldiers in the fortress. Healing wounded soldiers is crucial as their death reduces completion points.
Monster Types
Beasts. Monsters arrive in waves, each with about a dozen. They often come in mixed waves (e.g., Clay Flyer + Beast, Enchanted Soul + Golem-Soldier), posing a threat to weaker groups:
- Clay Flyer: Gargoyles with low health and attack, participating in main attacks and ambushes.
- Beast: Four-legged monsters with higher health than Flyers but weak attacks.
- Enchanted Soul: Ghosts with good health and a disruptive skill, "Silence," preventing skill use temporarily.
- Golem-Soldier: High-damage monsters with significant health, challenging alongside Enchanted Souls.
After all waves are repelled, the boss, Harbinger of Terror, appears. The boss is manageable with a good tank, as it only has strong attack power without special skills.
Rewards
To the exit. After completing the event (time expires, boss and all monsters defeated), players return to the fortress for rewards from NPC Balberd, who appears at the exit with the Exit Mnemonic.
