Overview

Ancient Invasion is Forsaken World's recurring server-wide invasion event — ancient enemies attack populated zones, requiring all players to coordinate defense. Major server events with significant rewards including unique titles, faith reagents, and rare crafting materials.

This article covers mechanics, rewards, scheduling, and tips for getting the most value from this activity.

The Ancients are Coming!

Every day, the Ancients—fearless warriors from the First Squad and Sixth Legion—attack the Free Islands. Players are notified of their arrival in the world chat. Following the notification, players can find NPCs Naga Protector, Icefang Commander, and Jabul Leader on the Free Islands for the next half hour. With their help, a group of adventurers can embark on one of three expeditions to earn generous rewards such as experience, faith, level 1 (or sometimes level 2 and 3) gems, purple revaluation scrolls, and numi.

Schedule

  • 13:00 to 13:30
  • 17:00 to 17:30
  • 21:00 to 21:30

How to Embark on an Expedition

Through any of the NPCs, a group of 3 to 6 players can embark on an expedition. Players must be level 60 or higher, but level 75+ is recommended. The group leader initiates the expedition by interacting with one of the NPCs. Once initiated, the NPC disappears from the current channel until the next session.

Players can only enter the expedition location if they are near the group leader at the time of initiation. Re-entering or entering independently is not possible.

If:

  • All 60 mobs are defeated
  • The boss is defeated afterward
  • This is no more than the 7th expedition of the same type in a day
  • The player did not enter through the same type of NPC more than 6 times earlier in the week

Then the player receives a bonus—a closed treasure box, the main goal of these expeditions! The type of treasure depends on the NPC used to enter.

Expedition Restrictions

WARNING! The following restrictions apply:

  1. A maximum of 7 bonus boxes of each type can be obtained per week.
  2. A maximum of 10 expeditions can be conducted per day through NPCs of any type. Completing all 7 boxes of any type counts as 7 expeditions. This means you can only complete one full expedition per day.
  3. If you receive fewer than 7 boxes, complete them on another day.
  4. A full expedition option allows players to complete all 10 expeditions at once, but only the first 7 will yield prize boxes.
  5. A maximum of 10 books of faith or experience can be read per week, regardless of whether they were obtained from boxes or purchased.
  6. If your character has 145 or more activity at the time of opening a box, the reward will be unbound and potentially more generous.
  7. All unused NPCs disappear half an hour after appearing.

Expedition Walkthrough

Road to Icefang Commander All three types of expeditions have the same mechanics:

Players start at the beginning of a mini-location, the appearance of which depends on the NPC used to enter. The location contains exactly 60 mobs, whose level is close to the average level of the players in the group, and one boss. All mobs resemble the initiating NPC. Mobs are considered quest mobs, and experience and faith are not reduced by penalties.

Each player receives a quest to kill 60 mobs of the respective type.

Where to find NPCsPlayers move forward, either together or splitting up, to kill mobs and complete the quest, then receive a quest to kill the boss. The reward is a box corresponding to the type of invasion (21 per week, 7 of each type).

  • Important Note!

If the boss is killed before all 60 mobs are defeated, no box will be awarded.

Types of Expeditions

There are three different types of ancient sea inhabitants. They differ by the type of NPC initiating the expedition, the location of the expedition, and most importantly, the reward.

  • Jabul

    • Commonly found near the mnemonic stones of Pirate Island, Old Sawmill, and Scarlet Reefs.
    • Reward type: experience books.
    • Killing mobs inside the dungeon grants increased experience (experience scrolls recommended).
    • To speed up completion, it's recommended to split up to gather mobs in groups and kill them in parallel, then regroup at the boss. Recommended routes and stop points are shown in the scheme on the right.
  • Icefangs

    • Commonly found near the mnemonic stones of Pirate Island, Old Sawmill, and Scarlet Reefs.
    • Reward type: faith books.
    • Killing mobs inside the dungeon grants increased faith (prayers recommended to double the faith gained).
    • It's recommended to make one stop right after the turn. Icefangs coming from the foot of the hill won't enter the gates: they will de-aggro. While part of the group stops at this point, others can enter the fortress and gather the remaining mobs into one big group.
  • Nagas

    • Commonly found on the Island of Masters.
    • Reward type: numi, level 1, 2, 3 gems, purple revaluation scrolls.
    • The action takes place on a flat lake, mobs do not de-aggro. It's recommended to gather everyone and start killing along with the boss. It's best to do this by splitting players along the right and left edges of the frozen lake.
  • Important Note!

    1. Before starting the expedition, it's advisable to assign roles—who runs left, who runs right, etc.
    2. 1-2 players should run at the back, controlling possible mob de-aggro.
    3. Avoid racing ahead, especially if you're the aggroing character, as mobs may de-aggro. Be cautious with "breeze" skills—running too fast may cause some mobs to fall behind and de-aggro.

Expedition Rewards

Reward for Icefang Commander

Faith Book**Experience Book As a reward for the boss kill quest, players receive a reward box. The type of box and its contents depend on the type of expedition. Only 7 of each type can be obtained and opened per week.

Additionally, if sufficient energy is available when registering through an NPC (Jabul, Naga, or Icefang), a quest Victorious Expedition will appear, rewarding a golden chest. The reward matches the Wheel of Fate expedition reward.

FAQ

Q: How often does Ancient Invasion happen? A: Recurring server event — varies by server, typically monthly or quarterly. System announcements give 24-48 hour warning before the event begins.

Q: What classes are best for Ancient Invasion? A: AoE-focused classes (Ranger, Mage Fire, Marksman Explosion) excel at the mob-clearing phases. Tanks and healers are essential for the boss phases. Mixed compositions reward all roles.

Q: Do I need a guild to participate? A: No — unaffiliated players can join the public defense. However, guild-organized groups have access to coordinated voice comms and shared loot rolls, which generally fare better against the harder phases.

Q: Is this activity worth doing daily? A: For active players past level 50, yes — recurring activities provide reliable income that compounds across weeks. Skip only if scheduled timing genuinely doesn't fit your play sessions.
