Overview

Crypt of the Ancestors is one of Forsaken World's endgame instances — an endgame instance set in ancient burial chambers, featuring undead and spirit-wraith enemies. Multi-stage boss fights with mechanic-heavy phases reward players who learn the encounters. Drop highlights include ancestor-themed gear and rare consumable scrolls.

This article covers entrance requirements, encounter mechanics, drop tables, and progression strategy. For broader endgame planning, see World Bosses and Arena.

Name Crypt of the Ancestors
Type Gear Expedition
Required Level 65+
Reward Gear, skill scrolls, rare pet soul

The Crypt of the Ancestors is part of the Challenge Expedition II, accessible with a certain probability by applying for the "Random Challenge Expedition II" in the party window, opened using the hotkey "T" or the button in the main menu. Completing the expedition this way grants additional rewards for finishing the Random Challenge Expedition.

You can also enter the Crypt of the Ancestors through NPC Sherman located in the Temple of Kulkan, Dream Grove (requires a group of 2 or more players). However, completing the expedition this way does not provide additional rewards. The advantage of entering through the NPC is that it does not consume patience points, unlike the Random Challenge Expedition.

Description

The Crypt of the Ancestors is an expedition where you must defeat 6 bosses, with the chance to obtain level 60 blue gear and a rare pet soul. Additionally, the first successful completion of the day guarantees 15 points of the God of War.

Walkthrough

If your level is 60+ and your gear is lacking, follow these recommendations for your first expedition:

  • Include a healer in your party: Priest, Bard, Vampire.
  • Include a tank: Protector, Warrior, Reaper.
  • Include ranged and AoE damage dealers: Mage, Marksman, Assassin.
  • Repair your gear and stock up on HP and MP potions before the expedition.
  • Always defeat mobs before approaching bosses.

Following these tips will significantly increase your chances of a successful expedition.

Your party enters the catacombs, the same ones unlocked by the animated statue after completing the Surroundings of the Crypt at level 60.

Start of the Expedition

Upon entering the crypt, run to the end of the large hall and defeat a group of monsters.

The only exit from the hall is a breach in the left wall, which the team should immediately run through.

Descend the semicircular path to find the tunnel entrance adorned with a menacing shaman mask, indicating the first boss of the Crypt of the Ancestors awaits.

First Boss - Basilisk

The tunnel leads to a large well where the first guardian of the Crypt, the serpent Basilisk, awaits.

Abilities

  • Low-power AoE attack.
  • Silent Poison: Temporarily silences the entire group, preventing attacks and skill use.
  • Poison: Continuous health reduction.

Poisonous Path

Turn right from the tunnel exit, clearing the path of aggressive voodoo dwarves until you reach a passage filled with poisonous green gas, guarded by another fearsome mask - Lord of Terror.

Second Boss - Lord of Terror

Do not rush. The mask blocking the passage is the second guardian of the Crypt, designed as a trap. Periodically, the gates split into four parts to shoot spinning discs at you.

Feature and Tactics

A party member, preferably a protector or warrior, should provoke the mirages and retreat to the passage before the poisonous cloud. The group destroys the mirages while the enraged Lord, unable to move, throws his blades.

Stand directly under the Lord, specifically under his tongue. Quickly run under the tongue as the boss's frontal attack is very strong.

Abilities

  • Sensitive AoE attack.
  • Blade Fan: Deals continuous damage.
  • Slow: Reduces movement speed.

Deeper! Lower! Scarier!

After defeating the Lord of Terror, he disappears along with his pedestal, revealing a platform. Jump off and descend the spiral path to the bottom.

The exit from the room is locked, requiring the destruction of another guardian structure, the third boss of the Crypt expedition - Sacred Tree of the Ancestors.

Third Boss - Sacred Tree of the Ancestors

The guardians sealing the tomb were clever, making access difficult, especially protecting the sacred tree.

Features and Tactics

Tree Closed Before attacking the tree, reach its core by cutting the roots. The expedition team must focus on breaking the supports using auto-attacks.

Tree Open Initially, the tree is closed and immune to damage. Attack the supports until the tree opens, exposing its core for damage.

Tree Open and Heated Break all 4 supports using auto-attacks. Skills deal only 1 damage, so it's inefficient. Pets also deal 1 damage, making them as useful as any party member.

The support crystals and core change color from blue to red, indicating "heating." Blue supports are cold and need to be heated with strikes. When all 4 supports turn red with red lightning, the tree opens.

Immediately and powerfully attack the core, as the tree will soon close, requiring the group to break all 4 supports again to reach its vulnerable part.

Barrier

After destroying the Sacred Tree, the catacomb doors open, allowing the team to continue the expedition.

Passing through the corridor, a hall closed by a red force barrier is visible on the right.

To penetrate it, the group must defeat a pair of unpleasant and cunning guardians.

Fourth Boss - Konbos

You might remember Konbos, who fell from the pedestal after completing the Outer Catacombs and broke the entrance to the Catacombs.

In the hall where the boss roams, there's an ice block (we'll revisit this later). When attacking Konbos, flames from ceiling nozzles melt the ice block.

Abilities

  • ** Bad Magic**: Rapidly depletes MP. Accumulates.
  • Burning Trouble: Rapidly reduces health.

Feature and Tactics

Bad Magic is particularly troublesome. If the priest and bard don't vigorously restore mana, the fight may end unfavorably. Attack classes should also drink elixirs to avoid prolonging the battle.

Pet: Tomb Guardian It's believed that mana drain is lower in the corridor before the hall than during the fight, but that's not the only reason to fight the fourth boss away from the center.

Once Konbos is defeated, the ice block in the hall center melts, revealing the fifth dungeon boss - Skeleton of Grumtar.

Soul of Konbos

Note - Konbos has a chance to drop a pet soul. Capture it using a regular soul capture skill available at level 30.

After defeating the boss, the flames melt the ice block in the hall center, uncovering the fifth dungeon boss - Skeleton of Grumtar.

Fifth Boss - Revived Skeleton of Grumtar

Attention - Door!

Once the fifth boss is attacked, the door to the hall closes!

  • Anyone who didn't cross the red line can't participate in the battle. **If the battle is impossible without them, simply die. Once the boss's aggression ends, the door opens. If a priest or bard (light branch) survives, resurrect; if not, rerun the dungeon from the entry point to the current hall.

Feature and Tactics

The fifth boss's feature is its threats.

The guardian shouts a random group member's name and a threat, warning of their demise unless they flee 10 meters from the boss.

It seems simple to run 10 meters, but the boss also applies heavy slow to the entire group, making the 10-meter run challenging. Speed or slow-clearing skills can help, but the boss may repeatedly target you, so stay alert. The boss gives enough time for the run even under slow, just watch for your name in the chat.

Abilities

  • Randomly selects a participant who must run 10 meters from the boss to avoid death.
  • Instantly drains mana from all participants.
  • Heavy slow.
  • Medium-strength AoE attack.

Portal

After defeating the boss, the hall exit opens, and returning to the corridor, we see the barrier is gone, and a swirling portal has opened in the passage.

Enter it to teleport to the final stage of the Crypt of the Ancestors adventure.

We arrive in a hall that was beyond the red force barrier, close to a swarm of ugly insects. Be cautious after teleporting, or they'll immediately attack you.

The hall is a cave with a horseshoe-shaped platform in the center, surrounded by a moat where Evil Spirit minions eagerly await a careless victim.

What victim? Those daring to attack Lodge Zlobnoglaz, of course.

Final Boss - Lodge Zlobnoglaz

The expedition culminates in a battle with a creature of incredible size, the main dungeon monster.

Abilities

  • Instantly reduces the group's health to extremely low levels.
  • Powerful AoE attacks.
  • Sting: Causes health to drop.
  • Curse: Reduces healing effect by 75%.
  • Dark Reaction: Slows movement by 50%.

Feature and Tactics

Most players prefer to stand at the platform's edge close to the boss. During the battle, Lodge deals severe damage to the group and can use a special attack that reduces 90% of a character's maximum HP, regardless of current HP. Therefore, keep HP at maximum, constantly using potions.

Pay close attention during these moments. Besides the boss, several strong insects in the moat often attack the priest. If, during a mass HP drop, the priest (or another character) is hit several times by monsters, the group will likely lose them.

Epilogue

When the boss has little HP left, the Revived Skeleton of Grumtar, as promised, comes to help. He assists in defeating Lodge Zlobnoglaz or distracts his minions.

If successful, Lodge will die, closing his Evil Eye.

The Crypt of the Ancestors expedition is complete. If it's your first time, don't forget to dig up Grumtar's Bone Meal in the moat under the fallen Lodge Zlobnoglaz.

The exit mnemonic is on the opposite side from the boss.

Resources

The Crypt of the Ancestors is a resource source for creating special level 4 crystals.

  • Rotten Moss grows in the Grave Corridor and at the end of the Road of the Dead. Requires level 6 Herbalist profession.

  • Golden Stone and Golden Crystal are mined from Precious Crystal ore, which appears after defeating the final boss. Requires level 4 Miner profession.
