Velkian Castle is part of Challenge Raid I, accessible with a certain probability by applying for "Random Challenge Raid I" in the party window, which can be opened with the hotkey "T" or the button in the main menu. Successfully completing the raid this way grants additional rewards.
Estelle Starry-Eyed Velkian Castle can also be accessed via NPC Estelle Starry-Eyed, located between the Tavern and the Trade Union in Hossinger (requires a group of 2 or more players). However, completing the raid this way does not provide additional rewards. The advantage of this method is that it does not consume patience points, unlike the Random Challenge Raid.
Description
Velkian Castle is a challenging raid for newcomers. Players will face 5 bosses, defeating them grants level 30 blue equipment, Lionheart Tokens for hero gear (suitable for level 30-60 characters), and numerous Star Shards for equipment enhancement. Star Shards also drop from mobs between bosses.
Strategy
For characters with lower levels (30+), follow these recommendations:
- Include a healer in the party: Priest, Bard, Vampire.
- Include a tank: Protector, Warrior, Reaper.
- Include ranged and AoE damage dealers: Mage, Marksman, Assassin.
- Repair equipment and stock up on HP and MP potions before the raid.
- Always defeat mobs before approaching bosses. Following these tips increases the chances of a successful raid.
Castle Entrance. Upon entering the raid area, restore HP and MP, and apply buffs. At the start, you can run past many monsters, saving time. This task falls to the tank or a substitute character. A protective buff from a priest is beneficial. Other group members should stay behind the tank.
Initially, reach the ruined castle entrance, gathering three monsters along the way, and turn left up the stairs. The path continues along the fortress wall. At the second wall gap, jump down to lose pursuing monsters and continue. Alternatively, clear all monsters encountered.
After bypassing several structures on the right, reach a dead end with a lone NPC guard. Restore health and MP, refresh buffs, and summon a pet, ensuring its health is full due to bosses' AoE attacks.
First Boss: The Cursed
The Cursed. The first opponent is The Cursed. Pull her from the surrounding mobs using a ranged attack character, then retreat to the group and tank. She has a mass attack and may occasionally switch targets.
Up the stairs. After defeating The Cursed, ascend a large staircase filled with aggressive monsters. Either defeat them or have the tank run through with a protective buff, gathering them. At the top, turn right and run to the corner to lose the mobs.
Second Boss: Gain the Bloody Butcher
Gain the Bloody Butcher Rest and restore health and MP before facing Gain the Bloody Butcher. He has a mass attack and summons guardian mobs at half health. A good tank can manage them easily. They disappear after the boss is defeated.
Proceed through the gate behind Gain, turn left, and ascend the stairs to the top tier, gathering mobs. Destroy them with AoE damage dealers. Then lure and defeat two (or all four) Guardian Frogs surrounding the next boss, Storm Priestess.
Third Boss: Storm Priestess
Storm Priestess. The Storm Priestess has a minor mass attack and can stun the tank, randomly targeting another character. Be cautious with AoE attacks when her health reaches 10%, as she summons many damaging mobs. A bard's sleep ability is useful here to quickly defeat the Priestess.
After defeating the Storm Priestess, proceed through her area, bypass the building, and jump down where there are no mobs or bosses. Restore and refresh buffs before facing the final opponent.
Fourth Boss: Gomez Rose
Gomez Rose. The boss, resembling a giant naga, is Gomez Rose. Pull him to the group with a ranged attack character. After attacking, two of four possible enhanced mobs appear: Matthew, Chris, Alinaia, and Morika. Gomez has strong mass attacks, so healers and support classes must monitor health closely. His attacks can reduce movement speed or disable skills. After defeating Gomez, the raid is complete, but another optional boss, Dokaru Lunar, can be challenged for achievements.
Fifth Boss: Dokaru Lunar
Dokaru Lunar. The final opponent is Dokaru Lunar. She has mass attacks and dangerous whirlwinds that deal 1,000 damage per second to low-health classes. Avoid whirlwinds and stay close to healers and support. She also uses two curses:
- Curse of Drought. Reach a whirlwind within 60 seconds or die. Entering a whirlwind removes the curse.
- Silence. Disables skills for 5 seconds, leaving only auto-attacks. Dokaru Lunar also uses shields reflecting elemental damage:
- Sand Shield. Reflects Earth and Wind damage.
- Hot Armor. Reflects Fire and Water damage.
- Primal Chaos. Reflects Light and Dark damage.
Resources
Velkian Castle is rich in resources for crafting level 2 crystals: Plumeria, Purple Stone, and Amethyst. A minimum level 3 Miner and level 4 Herbalist are needed.
Plumeria (called Ivan Flower) grows in various locations:
- 2 flowers in The Cursed's area,
- 2 flowers in the hall opened after defeating Gain the Bloody Butcher,
- 1 flower on the Storm Priestess's platform.
Plumeria grows under trees, bright and visible from afar. Clear mobs before gathering.
Purple Stone and Amethyst are mined from the Lilac Dreams deposit, appearing after defeating Gomez Rose, right of the stairs to Dokaru Lunar.
