Mentor and Apprentice

Overview

Mentor and Apprentice is Forsaken World's mentorship system — high-level players (Mentor) pair with new players (Apprentice) for mutual benefits. Mentors gain experience boost and special items; Apprentices receive XP buffs, gold, and access to mentor-aligned exclusive content.

Introduction

Mentorship in Dark Age is a system where high-level characters interact with lower-level ones, helping newcomers learn the game while experienced players earn rewards for teaching.

A high-level character (60+) becomes a mentor to one or more characters between levels 10-59. The teaching process involves completing tasks, participating in low-level dungeons, and direct communication.

• Lionheart Knight Tokens: Earned by completing special tasks, these tokens can be exchanged for beginner hero equipment.

Benefits for the Mentor

• Favor: Earned through various interactions with the apprentice.
• Mentor authority: Unlocks different rewards and expands apprentice slots based on authority level.
• Achievements: Purchasable with favor, with achievements available for reaching new authority levels and graduating 50 apprentices.
• Spirit Leaves: Earned in large quantities at each new authority level through the mentor interface.
• Experience: Can be claimed at each new authority level through the mentor interface.

Finding a Mentor or Apprentice

Both mentors and apprentices can initiate mentorship. A mentor can find an apprentice and select "Invite" from the interaction menu, or use the automatic search feature.

The search window can be opened via the "Search" button at the bottom of the mentor and apprentice interface. Characters 60+ see characters 60- without mentors, and vice versa. If no suitable candidates are found, the list can be refreshed. You can also directly invite a candidate by entering their name.

Upon invitation, the recipient gets a notification and a private chat message. Accepting the relationship grants both parties special skills and 10 friendship points.

These skills should be placed on the quick access bar as they are used during tasks. Each skill lasts 1 minute.

Restrictions

Relationships are denied if:

• The apprentice left a previous mentor today
• The mentor refused an apprentice today
• Characters do not meet level requirements (10-59 for apprentices, 60+ for mentors)
• The mentor lacks apprentice slots
• The apprentice already has a mentor

Tasks

Special mentorship quests become available at levels 30, 40, 50, or 60, taken from NPC Vanessa in Hossinger. All quests are group-based, with the apprentice as the leader. Before completing a task, the mentor uses a skill (buff) on the apprentice to submit the quest to Vanessa.

Types of Tasks

• Lesson of Justice for levels 30-39
• Lesson of Wisdom for levels 40-49
• Lesson of Courage for levels 50-59
• Lesson of Gratitude for levels 60+

An apprentice can only complete these quests once. Completing tasks grants the apprentice Lionheart Knight Tokens, numina, and special experience books, while the mentor earns authority points and favor.

Lesson of Justice

Mentor and apprentice go to Eldaram, find the green cyclops Ruzak, and summon the monster Dark Preacher. After defeating it, they return to Vanessa to complete the quest.

• Full reward for 300 friendship points.

Lesson of Wisdom

Similar to the "Reading" quest. Mentor and apprentice go to the Magic Academy in Hossinger, find Nazarius, and answer a question from a book collection. Correct answers complete the quest.

• Full reward for 500 friendship points.

Lesson of Courage

Mentor and apprentice go to Eldaram, find NPC Tony, summon a monster, defeat it, and return to Vanessa.

• Full reward for 800 friendship points.

Lesson of Gratitude

Mentor and apprentice go to NPC Mouen in the Hall of Fame, Hossinger. The mentor uses a skill on the apprentice, who then talks to the NPC to complete the quest. The apprentice becomes independent, and the mentor receives rewards.

• Full reward for 1000 friendship points: 1500 authority points, 1500 favor points.

Increasing Apprentice Slots

When a mentor's authority reaches a certain level, they can spend favor points to increase apprentice slots by taking a quest from Vanessa. This also grants a title and achievement.
