Attack Very High
Role Single-target DPS, Controller

The Assassin is Forsaken World's premier single-target burst class — fast, deadly, and built around landing kills before the target can react. Where Warriors break enemies through sustained pressure and Rangers wear them down at range, Assassins finish a target in seconds and vanish before the rest of the enemy team can respond.

The Assassin's identity rests on three pillars: stealth (PvP-only invisibility for opener positioning), the sphere system (resource accumulation that converts into massive finisher damage), and the longest control toolkit in the game (stuns, sleeps, silences chaining one after another).

Class Specification

  • Deals very high single-target damage — the burst kill class
  • Uses invisibility for stealthy approach (PvP only)
  • Strong evasion stats compensate for low natural defense
  • Excellent crowd control — most effective control kit in PvP among DPS classes
  • Can eliminate any non-control-immune target within ~60 seconds via poison stacking

Skill specialization: Stun, Sleep, Silence, energy accumulation for powerful finishers, debuffs.

The Sphere System

Assassins generate, accumulate, and consume up to four spheres of two types:

Sphere Effect
Sphere of Pain Increases attack
Sphere of Rage Boosts critical damage

Spheres are converted into bonuses by finisher skills like Night Assassination, Nightmare, and Breath of Death. The conversion logic depends on the sphere type and finisher:

  • In Night Assassination: Sphere of Pain increases damage and applies bleed; Sphere of Rage slows enemy movement.
  • In Nightmare: spheres accelerate the kill window.
  • In Breath of Death: spheres feed the finisher's damage scaling.

A skilled Assassin manages sphere generation tightly — bursting at the moment all 4 spheres are stacked maximizes damage, and resetting spheres prematurely is one of the biggest skill-floor mistakes.

Talent Branches

Poison Tree (DoT damage)

Specializes in maximum sustained damage through dark attacks and damage-over-time stacks. Lacks burst control but excels at reducing target's current HP percentage. Includes immobilize-while-attacking talents — locks the enemy in place but lets them keep swinging.

Strengths: Sustained kill speed against tanks, resists, healers. Very strong vs. high-HP targets.

Power Tree (Critical burst)

Specializes in critical physical attacks. Highest critical hit chance + crit damage scaling. Includes the longest silence among all Assassin trees — devastating against caster classes (Mage, Priest, Vampire). Includes stunning effects.

Strengths: Pure burst kills, anti-caster lockdown, ranked PvP performance.

Darkness Tree (Evasion / Sustain)

Specializes in evasion. Lower direct damage than Poison or Power, but features a key talent: cooldown-free Assassination — the finisher can be used continuously until the enemy dies. Also includes a +100-200 evasion buff that reduces incoming damage by 95% for 13 seconds.

Strengths: Solo PvE survival, drawn-out duels, escape-and-reset playstyle.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths

  • Highest single-target burst potential in the game
  • Deepest control toolkit among DPS classes (stun, sleep, silence chains)
  • Strong evasion gear path mitigates the low natural defense
  • Stealth (PvP) gives initiative — choose every fight

Weaknesses

  • Low base defense — gets caught flat-footed and dies fast
  • Mana-hungry depending on build
  • Limited AoE — single-target focused class
  • Skill ceiling is high — sub-optimal sphere/finisher management loses major damage

Skill Acquisition

  • Levels 1-60: Learned through the Skills and Talents menu (default key K → Class)
  • Level 60+: Sealed skill scrolls

Class trainers: Berg, Berl, and Kassi at the League Square area in Hossinger.

Best Race for Assassin

Three races can play Assassin, each with slight stat differences:

  • Humans — balanced racial stats, best with Power branch (crit-focused). Prayer racial is incredible PvP utility.
  • Vesperians — life-leech synergy fits the high-burst playstyle, best with Poison or Power.
  • Lycans — physical-attack racial bonuses, well-suited for any branch but particularly Power.

Play Style

Solo PvE

Burst single targets. Power branch carries the kill speed; Darkness for survival in tougher zones. Stealth doesn't apply to PvE mob detection but cooldown-reduction talents matter.

PvP (Arena / Field)

  1. Stealth in to optimal opener position.
  2. Stun to lock the enemy.
  3. Stack spheres during the stun.
  4. Burst combo: primary attacks + Night Assassination finisher.
  5. If target survives: silence + chase, or Breath of Death for execute.

The kill window from stealth-engage to dead enemy is typically 3-6 seconds for a well-played Power Assassin.

FAQ

Q: Best Assassin branch for new players? A: Power — straightforward burst playstyle, easy gear path (crit/attack stats), strong in both PvE and PvP. Poison is more nuanced and rewards experienced players. Darkness is the survival pick for PvE-heavy players.

Q: When does the Assassin become powerful? A: Level 30 — when the first finisher skill unlocks. Level 50 — when sphere-management talents become available. Level 75 — when branch-specific finishers come online.

Q: How does PvP stealth work? A: Active stealth ability (button) — invisibility lasts a few seconds, breaks on damage or attack. Used to position before the engage. Does NOT work against players with detection items or anti-stealth abilities.

Q: Can Assassin solo elite mobs? A: Yes — burst kills before the elite recovers. Works best with Darkness branch's evasion buff for emergency mitigation.

Q: What's the Assassin's biggest weakness in arena? A: Hard CC chains landed before stealth can activate. A Bard, Mage, or Priest can lock an Assassin out of stealth and burst them down.
