Overview

The Demon race plays one of two classes — Soul Reaper (Tormentor) or Ranger — depending on character creation. The Soul Reaper variant of the Reaper class shares its kit with the Vesperian Reaper but layers in the demon's racial offensive abilities for additional damage and control options. This article covers the Soul Reaper / Tormentor skill identity for Demon players. For the full Reaper skill list (shared across both races), see Reaper Skills.

The Demon Ranger is mechanically identical to the Vesperian/Elf Ranger — see Ranger Skills for that variant.

Soul Reaper (Tormentor) — Class Identity

The Soul Reaper is a melee DPS with a darkness-and-wind theme — fast offensive cycling, gap-control via pulls, and self-sustain through HP-percent talents. The Demon-specific version benefits from the Demon Whisper racial (6-second sleep + Fire/Earth resistance debuff), which slots beautifully into Reaper's PvP openers.

A skilled Demon Soul Reaper opens with Demon Whisper to lock down a target, follows with Wind's Grasp pull, and bursts the helpless enemy down before the sleep wears off.

Race-Specific Bonuses

Demon Whisper (Sleep)

  • 6 seconds hard CC — one of the longest sleeps in the game
  • Reduces Fire and Earth resistance by 150 during the sleep
  • DoT effects do not wake the target (Reaper's bleed talents stack inside the sleep window)
  • Available at level 15

Demon Blessing

  • Permanent +3% base attack — keep active 24/7 (30-minute duration, no cost)
  • Available at level 10

Demon Gift

  • 10-second sacrifice/rebound — buff a teammate's attack by 50% of yours, your attack drops 50%
  • Post-effect: your attack doubles for 15 seconds, target's drops
  • Risky but devastating if timed for a coordinated burst window
  • Available at level 20

How to Play — Demon Soul Reaper

PvE

  1. Pre-buff: Champion's Will + Swift Blood + Demon Blessing (always).
  2. Engage: Wind's Grasp pull → Slashing Swing → cycle Death Wind.
  3. AoE: Dead Man's Shadow clusters; Blood Whirlpool to pull groups.
  4. Sustain: Blood Explosion (Executioner L35) for HP buff during heavy boss damage.

PvP — Demon Special Opener

The Demon's premium opener combo:

  1. Demon Whisper — 6s sleep + Fire/Earth resist debuff (racial)
  2. Wind's Grasp — pull the sleeping target close
  3. Slashing Swing + Dead Man's Shadow — full burst while sleep holds
  4. Bad Blood — cleanse if controlled, dizzy nearby enemies in cone
  5. Madness of Death (Executioner L55) for kill burst

Most Demon Soul Reaper PvP wins happen during the 6-second window of the racial sleep.

Pros and Cons

Strengths

  • Demon Whisper extends Reaper's already-strong control kit
  • Demon Blessing free 24/7 attack boost
  • Demon Gift enables coordinated burst windows
  • All standard Reaper strengths (sustained DPS, control, self-sustain)

Weaknesses

  • Same as Reaper (short range, cooldown-management heavy, fragile)
  • Cultural distrust from NPCs (lore-flavor)

FAQ

Q: Demon Soul Reaper or Vesperian Reaper — which is better? A: Demon for PvP — the racial sleep + resist debuff is genuinely better in coordinated fights. Vesperian for some lore-thematic appeal and Vampire-adjacent cosmetic alignment. Mechanical edge: Demon.

Q: Should I always lead with Demon Whisper? A: In PvP, yes when fighting opposing DPS or healers. In PvE, save it for enemy caster mobs that you want to silence-via-sleep before they cast their dangerous abilities.

Q: When should I use Demon Gift? A: Coordinated burst windows. Buff the highest-DPS teammate at the start of a kill window, accept your reduced attack for 10s, then capitalize on your +100% post-effect rebound. Don't use it solo or in random PvP — the timing window is too narrow.
