Overview

Ancient Tomb is one of Forsaken World's endgame instances — a mid-tier endgame instance set in ancient ruins — undead enemies, trap-filled corridors, and a multi-phase boss at the end. Lower difficulty than Tower of Eternity but still requires endgame gear. Drop highlights include set-piece gear and rare scrolls.

This article covers entrance requirements, encounter mechanics, drop tables, and progression strategy. For broader endgame planning, see World Bosses and Arena.

Introduction

The Ancient Tomb, formerly known as the Imperial Tomb (hence the abbreviation "IT"), is part of the Challenge Expedition III. You can access it randomly by applying for "Random Challenge Expedition III" in the party window, which can be opened using the hotkey "T" or the button in the main menu. Successfully completing the expedition this way grants additional rewards.

Alternatively, NPC Osiris in the Valley of Triumph, beneath the Hossinger's Twilight Gallery, can send you to the Ancient Tomb. You need a group of at least three characters. However, completing the expedition this way does not provide extra rewards. The advantage of entering through the NPC is that it does not consume patience points, unlike the Random Challenge Expedition.

Description

The Ancient Tomb is an expedition where you must defeat 5 bosses and an optional bonus boss. Victory yields level 75 blue gear with potentials and purple "Relic" items used for tempering.

Additionally, for the first successful completion of the day, you receive 25 War God points.

Walkthrough

There are no strict group requirements. Usually, having one priest in the light branch is enough. However, if it's your first time or you're unsure of your strength, it's advisable to take a bard in the light branch for combat resurrection and mass healing. It's also beneficial to have one or more AoE damage dealers.

During the expedition, stay together as all entrances and exits seal during boss battles.

Instance map. Boss locations are marked.

In the tomb, you will encounter 5 bosses and 1 additional boss. To reach the additional boss, you must complete certain conditions. Check your achievement book under "Gear Expeditions" -> "Ancient Tomb" for 8 achievements, focusing on these 5:

  • Devouring Flame
  • Impartiality
  • Detachment
  • Earth Defender
  • Determination

Each achievement relates to defeating one of the first five bosses. Completing all five in one expedition allows you to face the additional boss.

Upon entering (green dot on the map), buff up and head west from the column. In the nearest hall, you'll find some beetles, which can be easily dealt with using a few AoE attacks.

First Boss: Jaddi

Features Jaddi Jaddi in beast form

  • Sage's Curse: Reduces HP by 50% and drains 5% HP every 3 seconds for 5 minutes. Cannot be removed and ends upon death or when HP exceeds 90%.
  • Jaddi periodically shifts between beast form, increasing attack and crit chance but reducing movement speed.

Strategy No special tactics are required. Healers should monitor HP and heal party members, especially those cursed. If aiming for the bonus boss, stop attacking when Jaddi's HP drops below 5% and wait for him to enter beast form before killing him.

Achievement "Devouring Flame": Kill Jaddi in beast form.

Hall with fallen column After Jaddi's death, you'll be cursed with mummy. Mummies will periodically attack, targeting a specific group member. This player must kill the mummy within 30 seconds, or they will suffer 90% HP damage and a debuff reducing health.

Proceed to the next room, find the fallen column on the left, climb it, and follow the corridor to the next hall for the second boss. If your group has strong AoE, gather mobs into a "train" and eliminate them before the boss.

Second Boss: Black Digger

The main feature of this boss is riddles. He knows exactly one hundred riddles and will periodically ask each party member one. Each riddle has three answer options, only one correct. Incorrect answers result in a 20-second stun. It's recommended to familiarize yourself with the answers beforehand.

Achievement "Impartiality": Kill the digger before he asks the 11th question.

Return to the room with the fallen column, then head west from Jaddi's room to the deviless's chamber.

Third Boss: Deviless

Touching this lady summons her friends: Ellas and Samian. Each has a colored circle indicating attack radius. If any player leaves all three circles, the entire party takes damage.

Each friend can apply a (de)buff:

  • Ellas's Seal: Increases attack but also damage received.
  • Saadina's Seal: Increases crit chance but also crit chance against the character.
  • Samian's Seal: Increases crit damage, both outgoing and incoming.

All debuffs are non-removable and stack. The deviless also applies stuns and slows.

Achievement "Detachment": Kill the Deviless while Ellas and Samian are alive.

After defeating them, a teleport to deeper tomb parts appears. Continue to a room with a floor hole and six platforms, three on each side, and this fellow hanging from the ceiling:

Fourth Boss: Biggs

Biggs has high defense and health, so use a different approach. Platforms occasionally have traps that deal damage to the boss. However, poison clouds eventually appear, causing significant health loss. Falling into the pit results in death, and reviving is difficult.

Achievement "Earth Defender": Kill Biggs using all six traps.

Defeating Biggs opens the path to the main boss, Ruggi. Despite his name, Ruggi is the Emperor, and you've invaded his quarters.

Fifth Boss: Ruggi

The main boss hits hard and has significant health. He also has several unpleasant features:

  • A debuff on healing effects.
  • Periodically puts the group to sleep with a warning. The best strategy is to enter lava immediately after the warning to wake up from the damage.

Teleport to the last hall Ruggi's most annoying feature is summoning other bosses. At intervals, all other tomb bosses except Biggs (due to lack of legs) and Mantis Dzor from Pharaoh's Canyon (Ruggi's brother) will assist him. When Ruggi's HP drops to about 10%, all remaining bosses rush in.

Achievement "Determination": Kill Ruggi before he summons four bosses.

  • Important: For completing Astrologer Henry's daily quest and earning activity points, War God points, etc., Ruggi is sufficient. Decide in advance if the group will face the bonus boss.

Bonus Boss: Biggs

If you completed all five achievements, a portal to another hall opens after Ruggi's defeat (red dot on the map).

On a large flat stone, look down to find the same Biggs, but not upside down and slightly stronger. He no longer has high defense but has other unpleasant features.

He also asks riddles like the digger, but incorrect answers or long thinking can be costly. Biggs spreads poison underfoot, causing significant damage and lingering for a long time. The strategy is to stay together and move away from the poison in one direction around the boss.

Resources

In the Ancient Tomb, besides gear, monsters, and sand, you can find resources for creating special level 6 crystals.

  • Fatal Mushroom grows in the hall after the first boss. Requires Herbalist level 7.
  • Illusory Stone and Shiny Crystal are mined from "Illusory Light" ore appearing after the bonus boss. Requires Miner level 5.
