Quest: Web of Intrigue is a multi-stage Forsaken World investigation questline — players uncover political conspiracy, gather evidence, and confront betrayers across multiple zones. Mid-game content with rewarding lore + a unique cosmetic title.

Introduction

The "Web of Intrigue" quest is one of the special quests. In these special quests, there is no automatic tracking of monsters, minerals, or certain NPC locations, so it is essential to read dialogues and descriptions carefully. Special quests consist of interconnected individual tasks. If you fail at any stage, you must start over. These types of quests are extremely challenging for newcomers, but hopefully, this article will help you.

[Special] Web of Intrigue

The quest starts with the NPC Iliante the Divine at Emerald Lake.

• Description: The elves of Emerald Lake sent their envoys to Blood Skull, led by Leliana. On the way to the orc camp, the elf convoy was ambushed, and Leliana, the daughter of Elder Naylen, was kidnapped by orcs. Naylen is ready to declare war on the orcs again, but things might not be as they seem. When the elves and orcs managed to agree on the Crypt of Ancestors, they had no reason for hostility. There was no reason to kidnap Leliana. Therefore, you must thoroughly investigate everything. The elves of Emerald Lake follow their queen's orders unquestioningly, and she respects Naylen's opinion. The fate of the entire elven people now depends on his decision. To prevent another war between orcs and elves, you must find Leliana as soon as possible.

• Lead: During the kidnapping, only Annie, Leliana's maid, survived. She claims they were attacked by orcs. Your task is to talk to Annie and convince her to tell the truth.

• Reward: Experience and numi

Inquiry

• Description: Find the elf Annie and find out who kidnapped Leliana. Annie did not succumb to Iliante the Divine's persuasion. Perhaps the Lion Hearts are not an authority for her? You may need to be persistent. Try to persuade Annie to tell you the whole truth. If persuasion doesn't work, intimidate her. You will find Annie southwest of Emerald Lake (open the map and go left from the Emerald Lake mnemonolith).

Quest Hint: To get Annie to talk, you will need a diplomacy skill of level 2-3. To talk to Annie, you must have the Persuasion +1 buff. If you have level 2 skill, you will need to try several times until the buff appears. If you have level 3 skill, the buff is applied on the first attempt. Remember, only the Persuasion +1 buff counts!

Annie will tell you that she does not fully trust the holy elf because she is too young for her position. Annie believes that only Elder Naylen is worthy of leading the elves of Emerald Lake, which is why she did not reveal what happened.

Leliana, the elder's daughter, lived her entire life at Emerald Lake and never left the elves' land. When she heard that the war between orcs and elves was over and our envoys would go to the orc lands, she wanted to go with them. You know how tense the relations between our peoples are.

• Naylen understood that much depended on this visit. We were north of the orc camp when we were suddenly attacked by orcs. They kidnapped Leliana and killed all her guards. I jumped into the river from the cliff and swam to the lake. (c) Annie

On-Site Investigation

You won't learn much more from Annie except the location of the kidnapping. To find new leads, you will have to go north of Blood Skull and examine the kidnapping site. You might find some clues.

Quest Hint: You need at least one free slot in your backpack to complete the task.

North of Blood Skull near the ruins, you will see the glowing body of an elf guard. Your task is to collect (study) these bones. Upon examination, you will learn that this is the body of one of the elf envoys, and he died from the effects of very strong magic.

Orc Magic

Next, you will need to talk to the NPC Kuman (located near the Blood Skull mnemonolith) to learn more about black magic.

• The orc elders remember the aura of black magic well. Mower relied on the power of black magic when he returned to the Dream Thicket to become the orc leader. Then a fratricidal war began. Mower's magic was strong and repulsively vile. The dark gods allowed Mower to wield black magic. (c) Kuman

From Kuman, you will learn that the orcs are not involved in the kidnapping, as evidenced by the fact that no one among the Blood Skull orcs possesses black magic. However, there was a shaman in the tribe who was exiled. His name was Talman. Talman studied the secrets of black magic thoroughly. After his exile, he began living in the eastern part of the Abandoned Crypt.

The Outcast Orc

Your next stop is the eastern part of the Abandoned Crypt, where you must find the shaman Talman. Upon finding Talman, you will be surprised as the NPC not only refuses to talk to you but also summons a monster to attack you.

Quest Hint: To complete the task, you need to kill the skeleton summoned by Talman. It is crucial to act quickly and defeat the monster, or it will disappear, and the quest will be considered failed. If for any reason you fail to kill it in time, you will have to cancel the quest and start over.

Leliana

After killing the skeleton summoned by Talman, Elder Naylen's daughter, Leliana, will appear near Talman. Talking to her, you will learn that they were actually attacked by bandits disguised as orcs. They changed their appearance using magic. Leliana was on the brink of death, but Talman saved her with his magic. Among the attackers were fallen elves who joined the Legion of Storms, assassins from the Dark Moon clan.

The Whole Truth

Your task is to go to Emerald Lake and tell Elder Naylen what really happened to his daughter Leliana. You must prevent the start of a war and warn him about the Legion of Storms' plans. The NPC is located near the Emerald Lake mnemonolith.

By telling Naylen the whole truth, you will receive: numi and experience as a reward.
