Pet Skills
Your battle pet fights with its own skills — damage, crowd control, heals and buffs that you slot yourself. Learn how pet skill slots, moods and tiers work, browse every skill by role, and build the perfect companion for solo play, support or PvP.
Overview
Pet Skills are the abilities your battle pet uses in combat — a toolkit completely separate from your own class skills. The skills you load onto a pet decide what it actually does in a fight: burst damage, crowd control, keeping you alive, or stacking buffs on you and your party. Two identical pets with different skill loadouts play like two different companions, so learning the skill system is the difference between a pet that idles and a pet that wins fights for you.
This guide explains how pet skills are slotted, ranked and triggered, lists every skill with its icon and verified numbers, and suggests loadouts for the most popular builds.
Why Pets Matter
A well-built pet is a second character fighting at your side. It can:
- Add a damage type you lack — give a melee class a ranged elemental nuke, or a caster a sturdy bruiser.
- Lock enemies down — stuns, silences, sleeps and roots free you to attack.
- Keep you standing — pet heals, shields and cleanses turn risky pulls into safe ones.
- Buff you directly — many pet skills pour attack, defense, crit, accuracy and elemental mastery straight onto you.
How Pet Skills Work
Skill types and slot limits
Pet skills come in four types, and each type has a strict limit on how many you can equip at once:
| Skill Type | What it covers | Slot limit |
|---|---|---|
| Attack | Single-target & area damage, leech, bleeds and weakening hits | Up to 2 |
| Healing | Heals and shields for you and your party | Up to 2 |
| Controlling | Stuns, silences, sleeps, roots, slows and disarms | Up to 1 |
| Reviving | Emergency saves — full cleanses, immunity bursts and team rescues | Up to 1 |
The mix you choose across these limited slots is your build — you can't run nothing but attacks or nothing but control.
Ranks and manuals
Each skill can be upgraded through three ranks (★ → ★★ → ★★★), raising its power. A damage skill, for example, climbs from 190% → 240% → 310% of your pet's attack as you rank it up. Skill manuals come in grades labelled I, II and III — the higher grades simply let higher-grade pets learn the same skill.
Auto-cast vs. manual
Most damage skills are auto-cast — the pet fires them on its own while it fights. Control, heal, cleanse and rescue skills are triggered manually, so you choose the exact moment to stun a caster or save yourself.
Pet mood powers your control
A pet's controlling skills land on a 60% / 70% / 80% base chance (rising with rank), and that chance climbs higher when your pet is in the matching mood. Each control skill is tied to a different mood, so keeping your companion happy turns unreliable stuns into dependable lockdowns.

Recommended Builds
Remember the slot limits: up to 2 Attack, 2 Healing, 1 Controlling, 1 Reviving.
Damage Pet (DD)
Your fastest path to faster kills. Fill both Attack slots with strikes matching your pet's strongest element — a single-target nuke plus an area skill (e.g. Blowing Flame + Flame of Oblivion). Add Sudden Strike in the control slot to interrupt dangerous enemies, and Persistent Vigor or Protect Master so the pet survives while it works.
Tank Pet
Built to hold aggro while you fight at range. Take Provoke plus a sturdy attack like Bash, pair Petrification and Magic Armor for durability, and keep Self-Recovery ready. A great choice for solo questing.
Support / Buffer Pet
Turns your pet into a walking stat boost. Load owner buffs that match your class — Brute Force or Deadliness for damage dealers, Iron Bone and Invigorate for survivability, or the elemental mastery skills for casters. Round it out with Recover and the Telepathy cleanse.
Control Pet (PvP)
Specializes in shutting enemies down. The single Controlling slot goes to your weapon of choice — Hypnotize or Mass Sudden Strike — backed by a Reviving save such as Asylum for the moment you're focused. Keep your pet's mood high so the lockdowns land.
Playstyle Basics
- Match elements to your pet. A pet built around fire wants fire skills and fire mastery, not a scattered mix.
- Keep your pet's mood up. Beyond more reliable control, a happy pet is simply a better companion.
- Trigger manual skills with intent. Auto-cast handles the damage; you save the stuns, cleanses and immunity bursts for the moments that decide a fight.
- Rank up your key skills first. Taking your two or three most-used skills to ★★★ beats spreading manuals thin.
FAQ
Q: How many skills can my pet use at once? A: Up to two Attack skills, two Healing skills, one Controlling skill and one Reviving skill.
Q: Do I press buttons, or does the pet fight on its own? A: Both. Damage skills auto-cast while the pet fights; control, heal and rescue skills are triggered by you for maximum impact.
Q: Why do my pet's stuns keep missing? A: Control lands on a 60–80% chance that rises with your pet's mood. A pet in a poor mood controls far less reliably — keep it happy.
Q: What does upgrading a skill's rank do? A: It raises the skill's power — for damage skills, from 190% up to 310% of your pet's attack at ★★★, and it shortens the cooldown on many control skills.
Q: What's the best pet for solo levelling? A: A Damage or Tank build. Let the pet hold and hurt enemies while you support it, and you'll clear far faster than fighting alone.
